Patients are interested in the opinion of the physiotherapist.
Do we know about yoga ?
Each class seems quite different. What does that mean ?
Can we advise the patient how to practice safely ?
Can yoga be practiced safely ?
What type of person should practice ?
Should the hypermobile patient practice ?
Can the movement restricted patient practice ?

As a physiotherapist I feel it is essential to know about yoga. I have developed an approach to yoga which uses clinical reasoning for each posture. An approach which uses yoga in a totally prescriptive manner addressing the issues of the patient. A sensible and scientific approach with no reference to metaphysical structures or use of Sanskrit. A fresh look at yoga leaving behind the veil of secrecy and non scientific based claims. Learning this mind body practice ensures the patient addresses the symptoms but more importantly the causes of MSK problems. clinicalyoga empowers the patient and leads to a better compliance to exercise. The improved compliance I believe is because of the mental benefit of the exercise practice and the sense of achievement of learning new movement patterns rather than just repeating boring ‘exercises’.
